Spring Clean-Up Program

SPRING CLEAN-UP PROGRAM

The City of Fort Scott, in conjunction with Bourbon County, will be providing a "Spring Clean-Up Program" during the month of May.  The City of Fort Scott will be conducting a one time only pick-up program.  City crews will begin in the south end of Fort Scott and work their way north.  Once they have gone through a certain section of Fort Scott they will not return for additional pick ups.

Residents south of 6th Street should put their discarded items at the curb beginning Wednesday, April 30th through Sunday, May 4th.  No items should be placed at the curb after May 4th.  City crews will then begin pick up on May 5th.

Residents north of 6th Street should put their discarded items at the curb beginning Wednesday, May 7th through Sunday, May 11th.  No items should be placed at the curb after May 11th.  City crews will begin pick up on May 12th.

The following items will NOT be accepted for City pick up:  whole trees, tree trunks or limbs over 8-inches in diameter, household trash, tires, batteries, commercial construction materials, hazardous chemicals, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and paint containers.

Only the following types of items will be collected:  white goods (this includes washers, dryers, dishwashers, and hot water tanks), metal items, bulky household items such as furniture, TVs, and brush and limbs if cut in 4-foot sections, properly bundled and stacked separately from the other items to be discarded.  Leaves will also be accepted but must be bagged and also stacked separately from the other items to be discarded.  City crews will be doing this pick up during the hours of 7:00 am and 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Any Bourbon County resident can take items to the Bourbon County Transfer Station on Saturday, May 10th and Saturday, May 17th, free of charge.  Vehicles must be currently tagged in Bourbon County to receive free access, or driver must prove ownership of Bourbon County property through Valuation Notice or Tax Statement and identification.  The same types of items allowed for the City pick up will be allowed for County residents.
