Beginning 5/16/2012, the Bourbon County Vehicle Tag Office will close at 3:30 pm, until further notice. Office hours will be 8:30 am - 3:30 pm.

The new system is very slow and the State Vehicle Office and the software company are continually working to take care of issues as they come up.

"(Terri Johnson has) been notified by the Kansas Attorney's Office that they have made decisions regarding (her) request for them to review criminal charges and ouster proceedings involving Susan Quick. They have advised (her) they are declining to proceed at this time.

The State of Kansas has announced upcoming furloughs for the District Courts across the state. On April 13, April 27, May 11, May 25 and June 8, District Court will be closed. We apologize for any inconvenience.

The Driver's License Office will be closed May 1, May 4 and May 8, for a statewide switch of computer systems, in conjunction with the Vehicle Office upgrades. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The Vehicle Tag Office will not open until 9:30 am on Friday, April 13, 2012, for additional "go-live" training. We apologize for any inconvenience.

NEWS RELEASE: SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

The Kansas County Clerks’ and Election Officials’ Association is taking scholarship applications from those students that are majoring in Journalism, Political Science or Communications. The scholarships are available to High School Seniors or College Freshmen or Sophomores.

The monies from these scholarships are made available by the effort put forth by local Election Officials and Supervising Judges of the State of Kansas. Each is asked to call a toll free telephone number and report to the Voter News Service, specified races in the General Election.

The Voters News Service collects and tabulates a single, accurate set of election returns for broadcast and publication throughout the nation and abroad for the Associated Press, CBS News, ABC News, NBC News and United Press International.

Due to the joint efforts of the County Clerks, Secretary of State’s Office and the Voters News Service, the Scholarship Committee will be awarding 10 scholarships in the amount of $500.00 each.

Applications may be picked up at your school or at the County Clerk’s Office and all applications must be returned to your local county clerk or mailed to Inge Luntsford, 130 N. Spruce, Kingman, KS 67068, on or before April 3, 2012.

The scholarship winners will be announced at the County Clerks’ and Election Officials’ Association Seminar in May. The County Clerk from the recipient’s county will award them at their local school awards assembly.
